Dress Options Fall 2018: Follow Your Body Type

Mirabelli dress for your body type

Dresses continue to dominate as a Fall-Winter fashion choice, and while we all have a favorite shape that we feel looks best on us, it’s good to explore what’s new in a season to add some options to our wardrobe.  A closer look at the season reveals that dressing for your body type is still the best plan.

If you are a curvy girl with a tiny waist

If your goal is to de-emphasize your curves, consider a shift dress. Pick a simple straight cut that doesn’t cling to your waist or hips for the most comfy to wear. If your goal is to highlight your curves, a knit or stretchy doubleknit dress will put your shape in the spotlight.

Consider trying a wrap dress. This classic is back and remember, the wrap styling highlights the waist and is super adjustable.

If you have a slim lower body and carry weight around your middle

Your goal may be to slim your shape overall or create the appearance of a waist. Consider a wrap dress to create curves. The conceal the middle of your body,  look to a simple straight-cut shift. If you want to show off your legs, shorten the dress to just above your kneecap.

If you’re not very curvy and your hips are around the same size as your waist

Your goal may be to highlight your waist to make your bust and hips appear larger.

Try a dress with a waist seam detail or a wrap dress. A dress with a waist seam will allow you to wear a belt, which is the best way to outline your body. The wrap dress will highlight the difference between your waist and hips and give the illusion of shapeliness.

If the widest part of your body is your hips

Your goal might be to elongate and balance your figure by focusing on your bust and minimizing your hips.

Try a V-neck dress, an off-shoulder neckline dress, or a loose shift. Exposed shoulders will take the attention off of your lower half. A soft loose silhouette will be super comfortable and make you less self-conscious.
